The Deputy CFO will work closely with the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to develop and implement financial strategies that drive the organization's success. This key leadership position requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership abilities and a deep understanding of financial management principles. The successful candidate will oversee budgeting, forecasting, accurate financial reporting, treasury functions, and building strong relationships with banks. In the absence of the CFO, the Deputy CFO will deputize for them and assist in implementing strategic decisions.
Responsibilities of the Deputy CFO include ensuring that all financial transactions are recorded accurately within the agreed internal control framework. They will prepare management accounts, budgets, forecasts, annual financial statements supported by reconciliations such as profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements. Additionally, they will manage the finance team by providing guidance, developing policies and procedures, identifying cost management areas, reporting key performance indicators (KPIs), supporting budget holders across departments through monthly meetings for performance discussions.
Ideal candidates for this position should possess excellent knowledge of IFRS standards and be able to monitor changes impacting financial reporting. They must have experience managing treasury functions including cash forecasting for liquidity management. Furthermore, candidates should be adept at liaising with internal stakeholders like department heads as well as external auditors for audit completion within deadlines.
