Overall purpose of the role
This post will lead the delivery and development of a broad range of careers and employability activity for students at DMU Dubai, delivering an exceptional student experience and ensuring close alignment with careers and employability provision at DMU Leicester.
This will include ensuring all students have access to high quality careers guidance and employability opportunities, preparing them for graduate success and helping to secure DMU Dubai as a leading provider of careers and employability provision in the region. You will also work with high-profile external industry partners to ensure these relationships directly benefit the employment prospects of DMU Dubai students, and support the journey of graduates as they become DMU Dubai alumni.
As a DMU Dubai professional services manager you will also contribute to a wide range of activity across the campus and a proactive, flexible approach is an essential requirement of this position.
Main duties and responsibilities
To provide leadership and management of all careers and employability activity at DMU Dubai, ensuring the highest quality services that deliver an exceptional experience for students at all levels and in all disciplines.
To ensure all DMU Dubai students have access to the full spectrum of careers and employability services, including careers counselling, internships and work experience, and employment opportunities.
To line manage any staff associated with DMU Dubai careers provision, and work in partnership with other managers to allocate work to staff in other teams who may provide support to this service as part of their role.
To lead strategic initiatives and projects to enhance careers and employability activity at DMU Dubai, ensuring close alignment with provision at DMU Leicester. This will include ensuring the brand and quality of careers and employability activity at DMU Dubai is maintained.
To work in partnership with other teams within DMU Dubai to develop and/or maintain effective relationships with external partners, ensuring that these partnerships directly benefit the student experience through providing internships, employment or other relevant opportunities for students.
To develop and deliver student enterprise, innovation and mentoring provision as part of the careers and employability service at DMU Dubai, integrating this with wider academic and student engagement activity as appropriate.
To work in partnership with academic teams across DMU Dubai, to facilitate bespoke careers and employability provision at programme and subject level.
To ensure all careers and employment opportunities for students are communicated in an effective, timely and equitable manner. Facilitating and/or attending events and other activities that promote DMU Dubai careers and employability activity both internally and externally to the campus, as well as those that promote the campus more broadly.
To ensure DMU Dubai careers and employability provision and its contribution to the success of the campus is fully reflected in external accreditation and assurance of the campus, contributing to local and international reviews and certifications as appropriate. Actively seeking to identify opportunities to contribute to the overall development and success of the campus.
To maintain close contact with the DMU Leicester careers and employability teams, to ensure alignment of services and the quality assurance of DMU Dubai provision. Undertaking annual monitoring and review of DMU Dubai careers and employability services.
To actively seek opportunities for the careers and employability service to enhance the DMU Dubai student experience, ensuring the student voice is fully embedded. Ensuring the integration of DMU Dubai careers and employability provision into the broader student experience on campus in a consistent manner.
To facilitate services for DMU alumni in Dubai, including those who have graduated from DMU Dubai as well as those from DMU Leicester, working in partnership with the DMU Leicester alumni team. Ensure a seamless journey from DMU Dubai student to DMU Dubai graduate, seeking opportunities to enhance their long-term engagement with the campus.
To manage digital platforms and resources relating to careers provision and to develop record keeping processes that provide comprehensive data on DMU Dubai careers and employability provision, preparing analysis and reports as required.
To perform any other duties commensurate with the job grade as reasonably required from time to time.
