Dorel Juvenile, a leading company in child safety products, is seeking an Engineering Manager to oversee the engineering and development of Child Restraint System (CRS) products. As a key player in new product development and design efficiency, this role will involve strategic planning to achieve product group goals. The successful candidate will lead a team of engineers based primarily in Columbus, Indiana.
The ideal candidate for this position will be an experienced product development leader with proven management skills from a consumer product manufacturing background. They should excel in aligning teams to execute organizational strategies and have a track record of innovative and successful product development. This individual must have a thorough understanding of working effectively within cross-functional teams and partnering with peers to achieve shared objectives.
Responsibilities include providing leadership to the engineering team for new product development, tracking performance metrics, driving continuous process improvements, mentoring engineers towards goals, implementing standardized engineering practices, optimizing product designs for quality and manufacturability, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulatory standards. Additionally, the Engineering Manager will leverage global networks for competitive advantage, monitor the competitive landscape, support budget activities, communicate effectively with senior leadership, and develop long-term growth strategies supported by cutting-edge products.
Candidates must hold a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (Master's degree is a plus), Six Sigma Belt Certification is preferred, have 10+ years of technical product development experience in consumer products (other industries acceptable with relevant experience), at least 5 years of supervisory experience, proficiency in CAD design tools (SolidWorks experience preferred), hands-on experience with product development tools, ability to navigate Intellectual Property issues in competitive markets, and strong interpersonal competencies including leadership skills and the ability to mentor staff for growth opportunities.
