Our company, a leading FMCG/Manufacturing organization based in Western Cape, is currently seeking a skilled Senior Project Mechanical Engineer to join our dynamic team. We are committed to driving innovation and excellence in all our projects, from design to commissioning, with a focus on continuous optimization of our production processes. As a key member of our engineering department, you will play a crucial role in the successful delivery of both on-site and off-site projects.
In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the onsite construction, implementation, and supervision of various engineering projects. You will also assist the Engineering Manager: Projects in project engineering activities and contribute to the optimization of our production processes. Additionally, you will be involved in drafting manuals and procedures as required within the department to ensure operational efficiency and compliance with industry standards.
Health and safety are paramount at our organization, and as such, you will participate in safety forums, follow up on safety activities assigned through meetings or committees, report safety incidents promptly, attend safety education programs regularly, and ensure compliance with all safety policies and procedures. Employee management and development are also key aspects of this role. You will be responsible for ensuring overall compliance with relevant procedures and policies, defining clear job profiles for team members, conducting regular goal reviews, providing support through coaching and mentoring, allocating resources effectively to meet operational demands, and implementing succession planning strategies.
The ideal candidate for this position holds a BEng Mechanical Engineering degree with a minimum of 5 years' relevant working experience. Experience within an FMCG environment would be advantageous. Proficiency in mechanical design, P&ID interpretation, project management skills including commissioning and execution is preferred. Hands-on experience in team management is essential along with proficiency in MS Office Suite. Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, problem-solving abilities under pressure are highly valued qualities for this role.
